Maleny Orchard

Our Story

maleny orchard - Wedding venue hire

History in the Hills

The previous owner of our property was Arthur, a cattle farmer from Roma who built the farmhouse in the 1980's. He had a vision to plant out the pasture with native plants, regenerating the historic hinterland rainforest.

To continue Arthur's  legacy, we wanted to connect with nature by planting a tree on the estate for every wedding we hold. It's a romantic way to focus on tree survival and protect and restore our ecosystem. It also leaves a beautiful memory for every happy ceremony held at Maleny Orchard.

Rewilding

Our long term plan is for our weddings to fund the rewilding of our slice of the hinterland and return it to the original rainforest. We work with Land for Wildlife and Barung Landcare to ensure the right trees are planted to protect and restore our ecosystem. All our recyclable drink containers are donated to Barung Landcare to help fund their cause for local revegetation of native plants.

Why choose us?

Why choose us for your Maleny wedding? We are a family owned business who believes that a property like this has to be shared. By choosing us for your big day, you can help us to return this property to the pristine temperate rainforest it once was. 2000 rainforest saplings across 8 acres, along with several hundred Richmond birdwing vines (for the butterflies) are just the beginning. Our overall vision is to maximise the biodiversity of our property so that the rich native wildlife feels at home in our garden.

Biodiversity

The rich biodiversity of this south facing, basalt ridge is too special not to encourage. It is our belief that by encouraging and enhancing this unique paradise we can create a wildlife utopia worth sharing with likeminded people. The Japanese term shinrin yoku simply translates to 'forest bathing'. Spend an afternoon amongst the trees as a guest of nature listening, watching or photographing the abundant wildlife that calls Maleny Orchard home.
